Ruby Spice Clethra
General Information
Ruby Spice Clethra is a very nice ornamental shrub. It is of smaller to medium sized, growing to 6 feet tall. Great as a hedge, or in a variety of other landscaping areas. Oval shaped, 4 inch long leaves are glossy and dark green throughout the growing season. Foliage turns yellow to brown in the autumn. Very attractive bottlebrush flower clusters mid to late summer. They are light pink in color and are quite fragrant. The flowers are very attractive to butterflies and bees.
Additional Information
Clethra alnifolia ‘Ruby Spice’ grows to a height of 4 to 6 feet, with a spread of 3 to 5 feet. It is recommended for USDA climate zones 4 to 8. Ruby Spice can grow in full to partial sunlight. It does well with average to moderate amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not known to have any serious disease or insect issues.
