Annabelle Hydrangea
General Information
Looking for a hardy, ‘Old Fashioned’ hydrangea? This is it! Annabelle is an improved selection of Hydrangea arborescens ‘Grandiflora’. This cultivar was discovered near Anna, Illinois. Large, snowball like clusters of white flowers bloom on new wood. They emerge greenish white, and gradually change to pure white. First year blooms may be small, but will be normal size by the second year. These gorgeous blooms can be 8-12″ across. Even though Annabelle has very erect stems, they may need staking due to the weight of these stunning blooms. Use the blooms for a great addition to your cut flower arrangement. 2001 PA Gold Medal Award Winner. Great choice for a mass planting in your shade garden. Plant with other shrubs for a mixed border or hedge. Enjoy the long-lasting blooms throughout the summer.
