Cranberry Cotoneaster
General Information
The Cranberry Cotoneaster grows in a dense, mounded form. Its branches are recurving and covered with small, dark green rounded leaves. Pinkish-white blooms appear in spring. Abundant, large, bright red berries follow the flowers. The bright red berries resemble cranberries and generally persist through winter. Fall foliage is bronze red. The branches of the Cranberry Cotoneaster will take root where they touch the ground. Can be planted on slopes or hillsides to help prevent erosion. Excellent for foundation plantings. Can be used as a ground cover for large areas. Use as a low informal hedge.
Additional Information
Cotoneaster apiculata grows best in Full Sun. It will grow 2 to 3 feet tall with a spread of 3 to 6 feet. Plant in zones 5 to 7. Tolerates some air pollution. Does NOT do well in hot, humid climates. Rabbit resistant. Attracts birds. Deer resistant.
