General Information
Arkansas Blue Star is a very nice native perennial plant. It is perfect for borders, native plantings and a variety of other landscaping areas. This plant forms as a dense, rounded mound of foliage, with flowers held above. The foliage is feathery, and very narrow and needlike. It is bright green in color in the spring and summer months. The foliage turns a very nice golden yellow in color. Large flower clusters bloom beginning in the late spring. The star shaped flowers are small and star shaped, with a nice light blue color. Great for attracting butterflies!
Additional Information
Amsonia hubrictii grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, with a similar spread. It is recommended for USDA planting zones 4 to 9. Blue Star can grow in full to partial sunlight. It does well with average amounts of moisture in well drained soils. It is not known to have any disease or insect issues. Trim back after flowering to keep better form.
